TRAFFIC NEWS

Interstate 105 Bridge Repair Project

As you may have noticed, a major bridge project has begun just south of our school (click here for more up-to-date information). Throughout the project and most noteworthy during the Delta ramp closure, it is anticipated Willagillespie and Country Club Rd. will see increased traffic volumes especially during peak hour travel. This will have a big impact on getting to school.

ODOT wants people to know before they go as this 2.5 year long project will have at least a dozen traffic changes including reducing travel lanes down to one in each direction, periodic ramp closures, detour routes, etc.

There are two key ways to know before you go:

  • Go to TripCheck.com for the most up to date information.
  • Sign up for e-updates that highlight pending traffic changes (please see the flyer).
  • The interstate 105 Bridge Repair Project will bring I-105 bridges and ramps between Delta Highway and downtown Eugene up to current standards. The bridges were built in the late 1960s and early 1970s and need repair and upgrades. Work will include new guardrails, deck paving, earthquake reinforcements, joint replacements, and other repairs. In addition, the project will remove an obsolete overpass originally built to go over a road that was never constructed.

When?

Construction on the project begins in September 2018 and will be completed mid-January 2021.

What to expect?

Time

Work hours will vary based on the specific construction being done, and will include day and night work. Due to the nature of the work, expect noise. ODOT will manage sound impacts as much as possible.

Traffic

Expect delays and backups. Lane closures and detours will occur. One lane in each direction will be open throughout the project. Various on and off ramps will be closed depending on construction needs. Travelers will get through, but the route will change.

The south and north bank Ruth Bascom Riverfront multi-use paths will remain open with no restrictions.

Other impacts:

Washington/Jefferson Park will be closed periodically but NOT during the summer months or during the December holidays.
