Hello Families,
September 29 through October 2 is Safety Week when all students will be trained on the various drills we conduct throughout the school year. What is Safety Week?
Throughout this week, we will practice safety drills.
-
Monday: Inform Students of Safety Week and Why We Do Drills/Other Safety Reminders
-
Tuesday: Secure Drill & Playground Emergency Whistle
-
Wednesday: Lockdown
-
Thursday: Earthquake (Shelter)/Fire (Evacuation) Drill
-
Friday: Room Clear & Hold
Why we do safety week:
- We practice so that we know what we should do if something unexpected happens.
- By knowing what to do, it allows the adults to focus on fixing the problem instead of directing students.
- The practice also allows staff to identify things that could be done better in an emergency so that we can better keep everyone safe.
This is an opportunity to have a conversation with your child about the various drills we conduct at school and why it's important to know what to do. For more details on our Standard Response Protocol, please refer to this
